Recommended History Books for Kids
Need a great novel for a kid or teen? I recently reviewed five wonderful historical novels for an article on the website "Discover the Best Books." My list is titled, "The best fiction about little known aspects of American history for kids and teens." Have you read any of these books? What did you think? Check out my suggestions by clicking here.
A PERSONAL UPDATE: On January 1, Rick and I moved to Greeneville, Tennessee. We'll return to Fargo often to visit friends and family. I'll be there for most of April, and during that time I'll be visiting several area libraries to talk about my recent novel, Storm Warning. I hope to see many of my Fargo friends while I'm in town. Details about the library visits are below.
FREE BOOKS! The five libraries will be giving out a limited number of free copies of Storm Warning. Please check with your library to find out if the books are available.
Here's the notice from the Fargo Public Library: Storm Warning: An Author Visit with Elizabeth Raum
"Author Elizabeth Raum will visit the Main Library on Thursday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. to share her experiences during the 1997 flood and explain what prompted her to write the story. She will lead a conversation about using real events to create story and talk about the role of children during the flood. Raum is the author of over 160 books, several of which have been Junior Library Guild choices. She is a former teacher, elementary school and college librarian, and is currently a full-time writer. She splits her time between Fargo, North Dakota, and Greeneville, TN. No registration required. This project is supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts."
Other programs will be held on:
April 23, 10:30 - Moorhead Public Library
April 26, 4:00 - Wahpeton Public Library
April 28, 6:30 - West Fargo Public Library
April 30, 2:00 - Grand Forks Public Library
