A Note to Readers: This is my first attempt at a newsletter, so I beg your patience. I'm hoping to provide a few tips that I uncover in my research that may be useful to readers, teachers, and other writers. I'll keep you updated on special events and offers, and share some of the fantastic books that I discover through various sources. If you have ideas or suggestions, don't hesitate to share with me.

Upcoming North Dakota/Minnesota Event:
Red River Valley Kids Read, a region-wide reading event, is being sponsored by public libraries in Fargo, West Fargo, Grand Forks, Wahpeton, and Moorhead. It will take place during the month of April, which is the 25th anniversary of the devastating flood that hit the region in 1997. Kids will have the opportunity to learn about the flood from experts and to read my latest novel, Storm Warning. I'll be presenting at various libraries on the dates listed below. Free books will be available as long as they last. Please stay tuned for specific dates regarding book give-aways. Books are available for purchase at Zandbroz and Barnes & Noble in Fargo, at Ferguson's in Grand Forks, and from online book sellers.
These programs are supported by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts.
April 21, 6:30 - Fargo Public Library
April 23, 10:30 - Moorehead Public Library
April 26, 4:00 - Wahpeton Public Library
April 28, 6:30 - West Fargo Public Library

A Tip for Sci-fi Fans:
One of my favorite sites on the web is Project Gutenberg, an immense collection of public domain books. Most were published before 1923, so have no copyright restrictions. There are novels, short stories, poetry, and nonfiction. Among my favorites are intriguing stories from the Golden Age of science fiction writing (the 1950s and 60s). Simply enter "science fiction" in the search box. You'll discover wonderful sci-fi short stories published in magazines like Amazing Stories or Galaxy Science Fiction without copyright restrictions. Some were later adapted for TV's The Twilight Zone programs. Here's a sample. Enjoy!

Need a gift for baby or toddler?
Writer PJ Lyon's newest book All God's Critters Sing Allelu is just right. The lyrical text is supported with cheerful animal drawings by Carol Herring. It's fun and soon the little ones will be singing along!
