Oct. 26, 2022 Back to School
October 26, 2022
Here's my good news: I'm returning to school! It's been nearly three years since I did an in-person Author Visit to a school. On Nov. 10, I'll be meeting with 2nd graders at Tusculum View Elementary School in Greeneville, TN. Author visits excite kids about reading. That's more important than ever amid reports of reading losses during the pandemic. I also have a couple of library visits planned, as well as a bookstore event. Hooray! It's always a treat to share my stories with young readers. To learn more about my school visits, click here.
Classroom Laughs: Funny things happen at school. On one school visit, the teacher introduced me as a "writer." After I read my picture book, Cedric and the Dragon, a kindergartener raised her hand to ask, "How did you write it so neatly?"
Here are a few more classroom laughs from the June 30, 2021, issue of the Reader's Digest:
Teacher: What is an evangelist?
Student: Someone who plays the evangelo.
Teacher: Why can't freshwater fish live in salt water?
Student: The salt would give them high blood pressure.
Teacher: What do we call a group of stars that makes an imaginary picture in the sky?
Student: A consternation.

Quotation of the Week: Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. —Groucho Marx
